Job Summary
The Welder Helper plays a critical role in supporting our steel fabrication operations. This position involves assisting welders and fabricators in various tasks, ensuring safety, quality, and productivity standards are met. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, eager to learn, and committed to driving daily improvements as part of a collaborative team. Opportunities to learn welding skills are available for motivated individuals.
Key Responsibilities
- Adhere to safety, quality, and productivity standards at all times.
- Assist in all aspects of steel fabrication, including material handling and preparation.
- Fabricate materials according to blueprints and specifications.
- Move steel as needed and organize received materials efficiently.
- Kit and prepare materials for welding per job requirements.
- Prepare and paint materials as required.
- Operate and maintain tools and equipment, including:
- Hand tools
- Grinders
- Band saws
- Cranes/hoists
- Forklifts
- Measurement devices (accurate to 1/16 inch)
- Paint equipment
- Conduct equipment and safety inspections to ensure a safe working environment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support team objectives.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of measurement devices, including tape measures, with accuracy to 1/16 inch.
- Previous experience operating forklifts and cranes/hoists is preferred.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members.
- Mechanically inclined with a keen interest in fabrication processes.
- Familiarity with health and safety practices in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn welding skills.
