2nd Shift Paint Technician



Arning Companies, a leading manufacturer of commercial canopy systems, is seeking a Paint Technician to join our second shift production team. This role is responsible for preparing, coating, and finishing metal components to meet Arning’s quality and durability standards. The ideal candidate takes pride in attention to detail, follows safety and coating procedures, and works collaboratively with the production team to ensure products are completed efficiently and to the highest standard.

Specific expectations of the Paint Technician may include but not limited to:

  • Preparing surfaces for painting, such as sanding, priming, and masking
  • Mixing paint to match specific colors using power tools.
  • Operating spray guns and other painting equipment
  • Applying paint to surfaces using a variety of techniques
  • Ensuring that paint is applied evenly and smoothly.
  • Inspection and testing of painted surfaces for defects
  • Maintaining and repairing painting equipment.
  • Lifting at least 50lbs or more
  • Prolonged Standing, climbing stairs, bending over, or squatting can be a part of everyday routine.

Safety and Security:

  • Following safety protocols: Wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) like gloves, respirators, and safety glasses. Adhering to safety regulations for handling paints and operating equipment.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work area: Keeping equipment and paint supplies properly stored and disposed of hazardous materials safely.
  • Emergency procedures: Knowing what to do in case of fires, spills, or other emergencies.

Production and Efficiency:

  • Meeting production goals: Applying paint quickly and efficiently while maintaining quality standards. Adapting to changes in production schedules and maintaining a steady workflow.
  • Minimizing waste: Properly mixing and using paint to avoid unnecessary waste. Keeping equipment clean and functioning properly to avoid delays.
  • Teamwork and communication: Working effectively with other paint shop workers and production team members. Reporting any issues or concerns promptly.

  • Maintaining a professional demeanor: Arriving on time, dressing appropriately, and following company policies and procedures.
  • Continuous learning: Being open to new techniques and technologies in the paint industry. Adapting to changes in product specifications or production processes.
  • Problem-solving: Identifying and addressing issues with painted beams, like minor defects or adhesion problems, in a timely and efficient manner.
