Accounting Manager



The Account Manager is a key member of Arning Companies’ Finance team, responsible for overseeing daily accounting operations, maintaining financial accuracy, and supporting strategic financial decision-making. This role requires a strong leader who can guide a small accounting team, collaborate with cross-functional departments, and ensure adherence to accounting standards within a fast-paced manufacturing company. The ideal candidate demonstrates advanced accounting expertise, exceptional leadership capability, and strict attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership amp; Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff, providing coaching, training, and performance feedback.
  • Oversee workload distribution and ensure timely completion of accounting functions.
  • Promote a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with management teams across Operations, Procurement, and Project Management to support financial transparency and alignment.

Financial Accounting amp; Reporting

  • Manage daily accounting operations including AP, AR, payroll review, job costing, reconciliations, and general ledger management.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements and variance reports.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal policies.
  • Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes with accuracy and timeliness.

Budgeting, Forecasting amp; Analysis

  • Assist with annual budget preparation and quarterly financial forecasting.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to leadership for operational decision-making.
  • Monitor spending against budgets and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Support financial modeling and long-range planning initiatives.

Process Improvement amp; Controls

  • Strengthen internal controls, financial procedures, and documentation.
  • Identify and implement improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Contribute to system enhancements related to accounting software and reporting tools.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Advanced knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and month-end close processes.
  • Strong proficiency in accounting systems (Sage or similar ERP experience preferred).
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, formulas).
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

Preferred

  • Experience in construction or manufacturing (job costing background strongly preferred).
  • Experience with Sage, Procore Financials, or related construction/project accounting systems.
