Construction Estimator
Summary:
The Construction Estimator is responsible for analyzing project plans and specifications to develop accurate cost estimates, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services. This role involves collaborating with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure precise estimates and resolve discrepancies.
Key duties include evaluating subcontractor and supplier bids, using estimating software, analyzing historical data for cost forecasting, and preparing clear cost presentations for project teams and stakeholders. The estimator also supports budget development, participates in bid review meetings, and stays informed on industry trends to identify cost risks and opportunities.
Responsibilities:
Thoroughly analyze project plans, specifications, and other relevant documentation to accurately determine project requirements.
Develop detailed and accurate cost estimates for all aspects of the project, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
Proactively collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to obtain necessary information and resolve any discrepancies.
Evaluate and compare subcontractor and supplier bids, ensuring competitiveness, value, and compliance with project requirements.
Utilize estimating software and tools to streamline the estimating process, improve accuracy, and enhance efficiency.
Analyze historical data and past project performance to inform current estimates, improve forecasting accuracy, and identify potential cost savings.
Prepare and present clear and concise cost estimates to project teams, clients, and stakeholders, effectively communicating the basis of our pricing.
Assist in the development of project budgets and proposals, providing accurate and timely cost information.
Actively participate in bid review meetings and negotiations, providing valuable insights and supporting the project team.
Stay abreast of industry trends, material costs, and market conditions that may impact project costs, proactively identifying potential risks and opportunities.
Continuously seek opportunities to improve estimating processes and procedures, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the estimation team.

Education, Experience, Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in construction management or 5 plus years of construction project management experience.
Proven ability to demonstrate a drive for results and accountability of business needs
Proven ability to work in an ambiguous environment and collaborate across multiple areas to achieve a common business objective
Demonstrate decisiveness in resolving problems, making decisions, and identifying priorities
